Please add the possibility to change subdivisions timing not only per beat, but also for smaller portions such as 1/2 beat. It limits the process right now.^

Hi L and thanks for your contributions to the Beat Note community! I think it would be better to connect with you on a personal level and I want to invite you to message me directly from within the app under the app Settings > Email Derek.
Long story short: Beat Note is a constant work in progress, and the app you are holding in your hands is the result of about 3 years of full time development work. I am continuing to build out the app and adding features as requested by users, and as a single person team I am working as fast as possible. By releasing the app early in a state where it may not perform every single option every single user needs, this gives you the ability to share your feedback about what is most important to you and contribute to the development of the app. I understand this may be a different experience than what you are used to from other apps, so you may be surprised.
You can take a look at the release notes of the app (available here, from the Changelog, or on the Apple App Store version history) and you can also check out the historic and existing feature requests. You'll find that I am very active with the community in determining what the most important features and improvements are to the app, and I'm chipping away at these each and every day.
I of course want to welcome you to the community and invite you to contribute, but I also understand if Beat Note doesn't meet your needs right now. That said, this is a very unique time for Beat Note where you have a voice and can help to influence the development of the app, and you can do so at a discount before the price is raised after even more functionality is added. There are still more functions and features to add to the app, and I have a long development plan ahead and would love for you to join me on this journey. If not, no worries - maybe you can come back in the future when Beat Note is further along.
Either way, I want to wish you the best for your musical journey and support you in any way I can.
Regarding half-beat subdivisions: there are only two combinations that I believe are missing currently:
- First half of the beat as 16th note triplet, and 2nd half being 16th notes (or 32nd notes)
- And the opposite
If you are looking for 5s or 7s, there are already existing enhancement requests for both of those:
5s: https://roadmap.beat-note.app/feature-requests/p/5s
7s: https://roadmap.beat-note.app/feature-requests/p/7s
If these are important to you, please cast your vote!

Hi L - I wanted to follow up on this since I haven't heard back from you to let you know it's still on my radar. I've also reflected on the tone of your request and my original response and I'd like to provide some additional clarifications.
As I mentioned before, I appreciate you reaching out and sharing your thoughts on improving Beat Note. Your feedback is genuinely appreciated, and I acknowledge the importance of offering more flexible timing options for subdivisions. I can see how this feature would be useful for users like yourself, and I'm committed to exploring ways to enhance Beat Note to meet this need.
I want to emphasize that Beat Note is not just about my personal drumming experience but is intended to be a community-driven app. Your input, along with that of other users, plays a pivotal role in shaping its development. It's through collaborative efforts and open dialogue that we can ensure the app evolves in a direction that benefits the entire community.
That said, in fostering this community-driven approach, it's crucial that our interactions remain respectful and constructive. While I understand the frustration that the current software limitations may cause, ultimatums such as the mention of a potential refund detract from the collaborative spirit I aim to cultivate. Constructive feedback, like yours, is invaluable, and I encourage all users to express their opinions in a manner that promotes meaningful discussion and mutual respect. I also think it's important to build empathy for one another, and understanding the details and complexities of software is a topic I have not done a good job of sharing with the community and I hope to improve this.
I believe in building a community where kindness and respect are the guiding principles. Creating an environment where users feel safe to voice their feedback fosters productive conversations and ensures that the app continues to evolve in a positive direction.
I want to extend an invitation for you to continue contributing to our community. Your insights are valuable, and I'm committed to working together to make Beat Note the best it can be. I look forward to further collaboration as we strive to enhance the app for everyone's benefit. Best, Derek
