Suuuuper 🤩. Thx. When will 3.0 released?! Greetings Jörg
Derek Lee
Jörg Eckhardt: Greeting Jörg!! It's great to hear from you! 😃 I'm wrapping up all loose ends now and preparing to submit the app to Apple ASAP. The planned release date is before the end of the month! 🎉 I'll be sure to post here once it is available.

Hello friends! I'm excited to share that 32nd note music notation development, as well as modifications to the sequencer input grid, are both nearly completed and ready for the next major 3.0 release! 🎉
Given the sheer number of notes when adding 32nd notes, I've modified the grid to expand horizontally and scroll to accommodate easier input of 32nd notes.
In the first screenshot, you'll see a linear snare/tom/kick fill that's been programmed in. In the second screenshot, you can see the music notation and grid extend further to the right of the screen, and scroll bars indicate that the screen can be scrolled horizontally.
I can't wait to have you try this and share your feedback! 🙌🏻

Derek Lee: heck yeah. LOVE this. Hopefully you can get “flams” added soon too. That’s a big one. For the snare drum specifically at least because flams are so significant when writing Rudimental drum notation specifically.
Derek Lee
Jesse Rolland: Thanks for the positive feedback Jesse! I'm super pumped about this release and I'm glad to see you're excited about it, too! 🤘🏻
I've been so heads-down on trying to wrap up all of these features that I haven't had much time to think about what's coming next. I appreciate the reminder about flams and rudimental drumming as those have been on my radar for a long time.
Below is a screenshot of the most highly requested features. Given where the app is currently, I think it makes sense to flesh out the remaining foundational compositional limitations including flams and 8th note time signatures. Additionally, a lot of people are interested in syncing data across devices, so that is also high on my list.
Flams seem like they'd be simple but I've found a variety of aspects I think considerably increases the complexity. My plan is to start out with flams on a single voice (snare first, then once that's dialed in I can easily add flams on toms). Once that's done, then we can look at splitting flams across voices. 👍🏻 I'll update the snare flam feature request with a mockup of what I'm thinking and some questions I have about it so we can get the conversation started over there.
Exciting times!! And lots more to come! 🎉

Derek Lee: awesome! I’ve been meaning to respond to your replies to my previous posts so you’ll see them soon. With that said I’m just curious about two of the features I have requested as far as what the status currently is on them. They would be the multiple bar looping whether it being a drag gable loop brace or at the very least additional settings to set the start and end points. That one is huge for me so you are able to play along with as long of a grade as you want. The other one is the incorporation of a folder system so you can organize Beats. This is also huge for me as locating beats currently will become really difficult and messy as I continue to build up my library. Especially if you want to create lots of smaller files/beats. Do you have an update on if either of those feature requests are in the plans in the near future potentially? Let me know. Thank you!
Derek Lee
Jesse Rolland: Thanks for your reply! Happy to update you on these topics.
Multiple bar looping - I responded to your feature request with some details, so please respond to that when you have a chance. I haven't started any development work on this yet (as mentioned above, the current major release has been the main focus). https://roadmap.beat-note.app/feature-requests/p/loop-bracemultiple-measure-settings
Beat Organization - Please check the feature request for "Tags" for the latest updates. Tags development is also nearly complete and will be included in the 3.0 release before the end of the month: https://roadmap.beat-note.app/feature-requests/p/beat-organization-tag

Hello Derek
Thanks for info. For me it‘s important to have 32nd notes. Therefore I‘m looking forward to see if it‘s function. Great ;-)
I would like to buy it in a one time purchase. I’m still not a fan of yearly payment. We will see. When 7/8; 9/8: and 32nd is included I will use it more often and then I would pay yearly.
An other question:
Is it possible to make a new design of the „snare dead notes“?
I like it from sheets to read the dead notes as a little snare note. Same place as a snare note, just smaller (half size). So it‘s better to see the difference between „snare“ and „Snare dead notes“. then you could see the main beat with the loud snare better.
Your App sounds great ;-)
Thanks a lot
I‘m nearly over the fence to subsribe
Greetings
Jörg

Jörg Eckhardt: Hi Jorg, thanks for your continued support! I appreciate you taking the time to communicate the features that are important to you. I am working as quickly as I can, and addressing as many user requests as possible. Thanks for your patience!
Unfortunately, a one-time purchase is not available at this time. The subscription price currently being offered at a discount, and as I mentioned earlier, I will be increasing the subscription price for new subscribers with each major release of the app. If you subscribe now at the introductory rate, I do not plan to increase current subscriber prices. This is my way of saying "Thank you!" to those of you who are supporting me from the beginning and providing your valuable feedback.
My closest competitors lack many of the intuitiveness and features of what Beat Note can do, and they are charging much, much more. I aim to provide more value for your money than any of my competitors do - and unlike many of my competitors - not only do you have easy, direct access to me, but I am listening to you, engaging with you, and incorporating your feedback to ensure Beat Note is meeting your needs. I think what I am offering is unique in the industry, and personalized to you. I would be happy to discuss the reasons why a subscription is being used for the product with you anytime so you can empathize with me on this topic. I understand subscription fatigue and I want to be sensitive to that. I also need to craft a proper business model and pricing strategy that reflects my efforts and costs, and the value the product brings to you.

Jörg Eckhardt Regarding "Snare dead notes" - this is not a concept I have ever heard of before.
Can you please provide me with more information about "snare dead notes"? I am familiar with ghost notes, and Beat Note does support ghost notes. While I have 35 years of drumming experience across marching, concert, percussion, and drum set, it is almost entirely rooted in American (US) experience, so I wonder if this might be something specific to your culture or location? Please share as much information on this topic as possible, of ideally, some references links which shows both a) musically what a "dead" note is, how it is played, how it sounds, and b) how "dead" notes are rendered musically in notation. Thank you!
Derek Lee
I'm planning to include 32nd notes in the upcoming major 3.0 release.
FYI, if you are on the fence about subscribing, I would recommend subscribing soon to support Beat Note at the introductory rate. I am planning a price increase (only for new subscribers, as all existing subscribers will stay locked into their initial rate) with the 3.0 release. Thanks for supporting Beat Note! 🎉

in progress
Adding 32nd notes is currently in development! 🎉
Derek Lee
Development for 32nd notes has been progressing well! I've completed the beaming algorithm to handle all 32nd note combinations. Here's a screenshot showing some of them for you to see.
Derek Lee
The next step is to improve the user interface (UI) to accommodate a larger tap area for the diamond when inputting 32nd notes. While it's possible to input as it is, the diamonds are very small (see screenshot), which makes it difficult to accurately input 32nd notes on the iPhone, particularly on the smaller phone screens.
I need to experiment with ways to accommodate the input of 32nd notes better before I can release this feature. Thanks for your patience while I work through this challenge!
Derek Lee
Jörg Eckhardt - I understand 32nd notes are essential for you and the content you want to write. I have a working version that supports input of 32nd notes, but the input mechanism is not ideal as the screen on the phone is too small, making the diamonds very small and difficult to tap. It's better on the iPad, but still not ideal. 🤨
I want to improve this UX by making the area horizontally scrollable and also making the diamonds larger and more accessible to tap.
Should I release the current version I have even though it has the limitations I mentioned? Or would you prefer I wait until I solve this UX design challenge before releasing it?
I'll include a screenshot for you to see how small the diamonds are compared to other subdivisions.
J
Jörg Eckhardt
Derek Lee: Hello Derek, I‘m really glad to see that 32nd notes will come. Horizontal scrollable would be perfekt. But a current version of 32nd notes without that feature is better than no 32nd. So let‘s try ;-) . Thank You very much
Derek Lee
Jörg Eckhardt: Thanks for your kind reply, Jorg! I am concerned that this kind of interface negatively impacts usability, but I know 32nd notes are essential for you, too. Please give me a little time to see if I can find a minor way to improve the UX before releasing it, and I plan to include this feature in the next major release for you. 👍🏻 Thanks for supporting Beat Note!
