So I’ve seen the triangle notation for cowbell. I think that one works well. But I also went through some of my students pieces and ran into this well haha. I’ve seen it also used for triangle percussion depending on the composer. Otherwise they are notated as regular notes with a description saying what the instrument is.

Another user contacted me via support and recommended a triangle note head on the top space:

Ooh yes I would like this feature as well. Also a woodblock.

Benny Amon: Benny Amon: Thanks for your vote and comment! Looks like you found the wood block enhancement request already. 👍🏻
Follow-up question for you, as there is not often consensus within the drumming community: what kind of note head would you expect to see for a cowbell instrument in the music notation? 🤔

Hey hope this helps for both woodblock and cowbell
Derek Lee
Benny Amon Sure does! It's good to gather as many examples as possible.
One of the primary resources I've been using is the Guide to Standardized Drumset Notation. Here's what they say about cowbell noteheads:
(Sadly they don't have any examples for woodblock.)
I like to think big, so one future goal I have for Beat Note is to help facilitate consensus/collaboration on a more "standardized" drumset notation for these types of questions. (I'd like to emphasize "facilitate" and "collaborate", specifically not to "define" or "impose.")

Derek Lee love your vision. Yes I’ve seen the triangle used before and like that as well
