Folders/Combine Different Beats
Corey Bingham
I love the layout of the main screen where you can title each beat. The way I am using it is I am breaking down each section of an original song I’m writing with my band (Intro, verse, chorus etc). However, it would be really cool if there were a way to make a folder with the title of the song and then have that same “beats” page inside said folder to organize each beat to its corresponding project. Furthermore, another layer could be added to where, when multiple beats are a part of the same song, you could play through each beat seamlessly. That way you could click into a beat and hear it on its own or hear the whole project in context.

Hi Corey, thanks so much for supporting Beat Note and contributing to the roadmap with this feature request!
Several other users have asked for a way to organize beats, and I've evaluated the approach of using folders versus using tags, and I have opted to implement tags: https://roadmap.beat-note.app/feature-requests/p/beat-organization-tags
This feature is currently in development and planned for a future release. I think tags are more useful than folders, as a single beat could be associated with multiple tags. That said, there are many different ways to organize the data, so it may take a few iterations to find the right balance for everyone.
I really appreciate you explaining how you use the app to break down each section of an original song. Based on your explanation, I expect you should be able to create a tag for a song and then associate each of the beats to the song.
Regarding "another layer could be added to where, when multiple beats are a part of the same song, you could play through each beat seamlessly" - some users have suggested adding "sections" to beats, where a single beat could be composed of multiple "sections." I think "sections" in this case would align with the intro, verse, chorus, and bridge as per your suggestion. How do you think this would align with your needs? If a beat had multiple sections, then a single beat would be a song, and you could play the song in its entirety or maybe focus on a specific section.
Thanks for your valuable feedback!

Hi Corey Bingham! I hope you're doing well. I'm doing some research into how song charts could be notated in Beat Note to satisfy some of the needs you mentioned in your request. If you had all of your song parts in a single beat, how would you like them laid out? Many drummers I talk to have different layouts/images in their mind of what a chart looks like as there isn't really a typical "standard" that everyone agrees upon. If you have some examples of yours that you use to share with me, it would be very helpful. Thanks!
