Horizontally align music rests in notation with the appropriate instrument for all voicings

Sorry this should have gone into the "bug" category

Gilles Mercier Hi Gilles and thanks for adding this request! I considered changing this to a bug, but left it as a feature request for now as there appears to be some various needs around rest placement in the notation.
Long story short: this is not an easy fix due to technical limitations of the music notation implementation, which currently only supports three rest locations (kick, snare, and hi-hat). If it were an easy fix to resolve then I would knock it out quickly, but it is actually entangled in the entire music notation implementation, effectively requiring a re-write of the data model in order to it (since you work in software, I believe you can relate to the complexity here).
In the future I plan to add support for Android and Web, and to do that I'll need to re-write the music notation entirely anyway, so I'm planning to make these improvements at that time. There are also some other requests that people have asked for related to music notation, and I plan to work on these together. I'll list them below.
FYI - I'm going to re-name this so it more clearly describes what I believe your desired result is. Please feel free to correct if I misunderstood. Thank you! 🙏🏻

Derek LeeHi, thanks for the information. But in this particular case, I think the full rest on beat 1 and 3 should be on the HH line, so on one of the supported location... I am wrong ?

Gilles Mercier When you say "full rest," my first instinct is a "full measure rest." However, I think you are referring to a quarter-note rest (also known as a "crotchet"), so my reply assumes you are referring to that.
In your first screenshot with "Split Drums/Cymbals" voicing, yes, I agree that the quarter-note rest on beats #1 and #3 could be vertically aligned with the hi-hat staff space (Space "G") given the selected voicing and snare drum notes on those beats. However, since there are no hi-hat notes on beats #1 or #3, I might propose there shouldn't be any quarter-note rest at all because the snare and bass drum notes are already beamed.
The 8th note rest on beat #2 makes more sense because the voicing splits the hi-hat separately from the snare drum.
On the second screenshot showing split hands/feet voicing, I would also propose that the bass drum rest on beat #2 might also be unnecessary since there are no bass drum notes on that beat. The 8th rest on beat #4 makes sense because there is a bass drum on the upbeat, showing the separation of the voicing.
What do you think? 🤔

Derek Lee I totally agree with your analysis !

Gilles Mercier Thanks for confirming, Gilles! Sounds like a plan! 👍🏻
