I'd like the ability to configure how many times a measure repeats within a beat
Derek Lee
For the purpose of both composing, playback within Beat Note, and exporting to other formats (e.g. PDF), I'd like to be able to configure how many times a measure repeats.
Two examples that come to mind are:
- For a given song part (verse, chorus, what have you), input the main groove in a single measure and then mark it as repeating a certain number of times (maybe 3, 7, 11, etc).
- For a given beat, maybe there are several measures of rest. Given a measure of rest, indicate how many measures of rest there are so only a single measure is shown and the # of times it is repeated is also shown.
Additionally:
- During playback of a measure that repeats multiple times, the app should visually indicate (or maybe audibly in the case of a measure of rests?) what the current repeat count is during playback.
There are probably other aspects that should be considered for this, but this is a good place to start.

related features I was looking for in my first use of the app:
repeating a
group
of measures - the : repeat sign starting at the beginning of one measure, and ending at the end of another.Probably easiest to just have a "toggle repeat start" and "toggle repeat end" option in addition to the "repeat off" "repeat all" "repeat each measure" but in the "edit beat" screen.
that way we can have measure 1 as a repeat, and then measures 2 and 3 repeat together, etc.

Hi Dimitri Fantini! Thanks for sharing your feedback on this feature request.
What you are referring to has been partially implemented. I've found the design of this feature to be quite complex, and I'm looking for more feedback.
Currently you can choose the start measure to set your repeat from. You can do this by long-pressing on a measure which shows a popover menu including the option "Play from here": https://roadmap.beat-note.app/feature-requests/p/being-able-start-playback-from-any-bar
This accomplishes the ability to set the "toggle repeat start" as you mentioned in your comment. But what I don't like about it is that it is hidden from view. I also had a user who was confused why measures were "greyed out" and wouldn't be included in playback after they had set the start from measure. The design and UX here needs to be improved, and I'm looking for feedback so I can iterate to improve this.
The second part of your request already has an enhancement request created here: https://roadmap.beat-note.app/feature-requests/p/loop-bracemultiple-measure-settings
I proposed a solution that is in-line with the way the "start from measure" currently works, but haven't received any further feedback from the original user who asked for the enhancement. Maybe you can share your feedback there?
Thanks!
